Detroit Cass Technical took down Waterford United 14-3 in girls lacrosse action on Monday, April 25, at Waterford Kettering.

It was the second win of the young season for Cass Tech -- which began as a program only last year – the first girls team from the Detroit Public School League to participate in the sport.

Cass Tech (2-4) led 10-2 at the half against Waterford (0-7).

Junior Kayla Carroll-Williams and junior Taylor Weston both scored five goals to lead the Technicians.

Senior Mya Dawson scored three goals and senior Dori Booker and junior Lily Shields added goals in the victory.

Senior Na’ja Stokes earned the victory in goal for Cass Tech.

The Cass Tech girls lacrosse team was actually formed in 2020. But the day after tryouts, the season was canceled because of the pandemic.

Cass Tech earned its first win of the 2022 season on April 16 on the road against Utica Ford II, 14-7.

Two close losses to experienced teams followed for the Technicians. Cass Tech fell to Plymouth 15-12 on April 21 and to Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett 10-8.

Cass Tech looks to add to its win total on Thursday, April 28, on the road against Grosse Pointe North (0-6).
